Mom for Life

Budgeting and Financial Stability Workshop

Financial stress often leads to anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances. This can easily impact the way we parent and relate to our kids and others.

With this workshop, we hope to create an understanding of financial concepts for planning and budgeting so sound decisions can be made in the use of money, creating a more stable environment for our families.

Meet our Presenters

Hello! I’m Jessica Group, and I am excited to be a part of Moms for Life! As a mom of two children (8 and 6), I know firsthand the blessings and challenges that motherhood brings. Professionalism and passion collide for me as I have spent the last 14 years as a high school English teacher. I also created and teach an “Adulting 101” elective to help students master practical life skills before graduating.

Although I am not a Springfield native, my family and I have lived in this area for nearly 10 years. I am deeply passionate about supporting the community that has so warmly welcomed us. Outside of teaching and mothering, you can find me exploring and traveling with my family or out on the baseball field as a historical interpreter for Carillon Historical Park.

I am honored to be part of the Moms for Life team. My goal is to help moms build confidence, find great fellowship, and truly thrive as both mothers and individuals. I look forward to meeting you at a Moms for Life Session!

I am Karen Brodbeck and am excited about teaching the workshop on Budgeting and Financial Stability. I have taught Financial Peace, a course that encourages debt-free living.  I am a huge fan of using my money wisely. I was once a coupon queen that could get a cart of groceries for a few dollars.

During my work week, I am a business consultant that helps companies become more efficient which translates into saving them money. I have worked with over 250 companies throughout the United States and Canada.

At home, I have raised three children and now enjoy seven grandchildren. I have been married for 46 years to my husband Tom and have lived in Springfield for 40 years.

For fun, I enjoy hanging out with family and friends. I also like spending time in my kitchen baking. For a few years my daughters and I sold bread and other baked goods at Springfield’s Farm Market to fund their college experiences. I also enjoy traveling and have been to 49 of our 50 states, visiting Alaska a few weeks ago. Only Hawaii to go.
